When I was a little girl I had a drawer in kitchen filled with art supplies. I was lucky as my mom and dad always encouraged me to be as creative as possible. I was not "just coloring" I was escaping to another place, inventing, problem solving, learning, and just having fun. Later on while getting my degree in Art Education I was told by my instructors not to assign art "homework" as not all children have access to basic art supplies. This crushed me and I knew that I wanted to help bridge that gap and help kids have the same opportunity I did. Art Matters aims to bring basic art supplies to under-served kids in the greater Grand Forks area. This may be a new box of crayons, markers, paper, but as always this is just a start.

We want to work through and with other

amazing programs that already serve this

community to bring art supplies to them.

We realize that guardians and parents may not

have the time and or means to get to a certain

location to pick up art supplies. If you are an

organization that works with under-served

kids in the area and would like to partner with

because every child is an artist.
